Waste disposal is often costly and undeniably harmful to the environment. Therefore, in 2000, Metrosystem OÜ was the first in Estonia to introduce a reuse and recycling system for wooden pallets with the aim of reducing waste. Today, Metrosystem OÜ is the most professional pallet handler in Estonia.
The pallet recycling system used by Metrosystem OÜ is also known as the “gradle to gradle” concept. Instead of letting useless packaging waste pollute the environment, it can be used as raw material for a new generation of products.
If a pallet is in very poor condition and cannot be repaired, it is sawn into “primary parts” – raw material for a new product. This intermediate product undergoes thorough inspection before the material is used for repairing pallets or producing new products. Components that are unsuitable for reuse are chipped into small pieces, which are used in the production of woodchip or wood fiberboard, or as biofuel.
As waste decreases, so does the damage to the environment. Since wood is used again and again, there is no need for new raw materials – deforestation decreases. By using recycled wood, the costs of producing pallets are also reduced.
Thanks to our knowledgeable and environmentally conscious customers, we have significantly increased the share of recycled pallets in circulation. It is more beneficial to repair pallets than to buy new ones. We accept unusable pallets for free and then offer new ones at more favorable conditions.
